Chapter 2. IS in Business

Information systems such as the Internet help people
make key decisions in and out of the business world.
There are a wide array of resources one can go to for
information .
One of the commonly hit resources via the Internet is
Wikipedia which many people have a misconception
about it's credibility. Wikipedia is an e-encyclopedia
which has generated more than 3 million articles of
information to date with a portion of those articles being falsely written.
It seems as if people in business gather extra information via the Internet to help solidify that
the decision their making is the right one. Some may not realize how credible the information is
there receiving via the Internet which could lead to false representation of the truth. Wikipedia
recently posted an article and video demonstrating a willingness to change the way the company carries itself by implementing a color coded system which will put recently added text in a highlighted color and highlight text that might not otherwise be from a reputable publisher based on their past history of articles.
It's good to see that Wikipedia is taking the initiative to meet the demands of its users by
creating a more credible way of delivering quality information.
